Asics Gel Evolution 5
The Asics Gel Evolution 5 is an injured runner’s wheelchair to recovery.
It is a superb motion control shoe made of synthetic and meshes with an Impact Guidance System that guides the broken foot well from heel strike to toe off. It features a midsole material made of Solyte, and is much lighter in that area than most other Asics shoes. Its Space Trusstic System allows the midsole to deform accordingly when used, making this a flexible shoe in motion and arguably one of the least rigid motion control shoes in its class. The Duomax Support System keeps the foot supported at the critical moment of heel strike to toe off transition. This shoe weighs 11 oz.
Users and testers of this shoe hailed it the best overpronator shoe ever. It was loved by runners with wide, flat feet in search of comfort and support. Other heavy runners and severe over pronators claimed it eliminated their knee, back, and foot pain that was experienced in other motion control shoes. Professional testers said the shoe got heavier than its predecessors, but attributed the added weight to the increased firmness in the heel and arch to accommodate the big runners.
Runners who experience shin splints said the shoe held off on their shin splints. Long runners looking to rack up miles said the shoe broke down quicker than expected, and had to be replaced around the 140 mile mark because the foam wore out. However, this is normal among shoes for bigger runners, and their feet tend to hammer the foam away with each step.
The Asics Gel Evolution 5 retails at $120, but can be found at a price range of $80 to $120 on Amazon
The Asics Gel Evolution 5 is recommended for severe over pronators, heavy runners, and injured runners in search of a great deal of comfort and pain relief. All in all this motion control running shoes deliver more performance for the buck compared to others. A definite good buy.
